Function Test

The PCBA Universal Automated Test System is designed for most manual tests.

Functional testing, also known as behavioural testing, is a test based on the characteristics of the product description, user plan, and operation scheme to ensure that the product meets both the design requirements of the product description and the design requirements of the operation scheme. Functional testing ensures that the program works properly, tests the software against functional requirements, and tests all features and functions of the system to ensure that it meets the requirements and specifications.

Functional testing is also known as a black box or data-driven testing because only various functions need to be tested - from the software product interface, test case architecture according to written requirements, and input data evaluation between expected and actual results - while Not the internal structure and code of the software.

PCBA functional testing will include both hardware and software. Typically, the user needs to send a test plan to the manufacturer to guide the test engineer. For example, you need to have a list of actions and results (for example, if you press button 1, the green light will turn on).

• At present, the functional test of PCBA is divided into the following parts:

- Manual Test Fixtures

A manual test fixture that uses baking varnish and acrylic pin board for PCB input/output and power output, as well as manual analogue input/output. Testers confirm test results.

Due to the high labour cost and slow efficiency, manual inspection is gradually replaced by manual inspection fixtures. Manual inspection fixtures have higher precision, lower requirements for manual participation, and lower costs, but the inspection is local, and the quality cannot be guaranteed.

- MCU control function test

Make clamp locking or pneumatic clamps and pull out the probe. The input/output power supply is then connected to the microcontroller circuit, causing the microcontroller to run the test program and automatically measure the analogue input/output.

The method has a moderate price, high detection efficiency, guaranteed detection quality and less manual intervention. However, this method lacks generality and only applies to machines with fixtures.

- PCBA universal automatic test system

The PCBA universal automated test system is designed for most manual testing. As the testing system is powerful, it can test all kinds of PCBA and become a universal testing system.

The detection principle of humanization:

Sampling the model's parameters.

Setting the error range.

Comparing with the measuring plate.

Determining whether it is qualified.

- The test of simplicity: Manually press the needle bar, and the system will be automatically processed. The system can judge product quality by ruling out the effect of human judgment factors. Moreover, its speed is unmatched by manual tests.

The system comprises acquisition, a control board, and testing software. It is connected with a programmable AC/DC power supply and DC load. The high sampling rate product can be supplied with an external oscillograph.

The system can test the PCBA synchronization signal, user interface, modular programming environment model, and conversion.

This method is more expensive, but the test speed is quick and does not need to require human intervention. It is versatile in its applications and offers a more comprehensive test.

• PCBA function test contains:

- Power supply test: power is working properly; test each point's voltage

- Port (Interface) test: whether there is Short or Open, causing dysfunction

- Integrated circuit module ICI/O read and write function test: Flash&EEPROM&CPU&SDRAM&Logic, IC, etc.

- Special function test (different circuit board requirements inconsistent): such as infrared, the need for an external receiver.

PCBA testing depends on what you're doing, ICT or FCT, and different testing methods will make a big difference because ICT equipment and tooling are relatively expensive. But ICT can give good test results, bringing great benefits to PCBA repair.
